Michigan Basement of the Year 2002!

Dependant Foundations entry for basement of the year took nations runner-up and first in the state.  This large basement had over 55' of complex radius walls with 11' high walls!

The planning, staging, and execution of this was demanding.  The project was first drawn in our customized AutoCad program. Then all the mathematical data was downloaded into our robotic layout device. The robotic device was then used to layout all radius walls inside our shop and create a one-time use, custom form...complete with brickledge!

Below is a gallery of pictures walking you through our construction workflow process.

AutoCad Rending.

Our offices AutoCad rending with over 341 points to plot foundation. Points are downloaded into the robotic device to layout foundation. Drawing was also used to create 3D rendering.

3D Rendering of foundation.

This rendering is done with the aid of a different software product that allows us to adjust sizes, sunlight, shadows, wall heights, and many other options.

Shop Construction.

This shows 1/2 of one wall section complete with step brick ledge.

This is another wall section.

In this picture you can see another wall section. This section is over 11 foot tall and over 22 feet in length. Note built in brick ledge.

Wall sections placed.

Our cranes were used to place each wall section on our footing.

Both sides of the radius forms are placed.

In this picture you see both halfes of our custom constructed forms secured in place for pouring.

Cutting ties and deconstruction of forms.

The forms required deconstruction/demolition and incorperated the use of a torch to cut the extended ties.

Finished Front Wall.

As the project draws closer to completion you can see the construction teams vision for the finished project.

Concrete Foundation Association collects entries for Basement of the Year, and they are voted on by the CFA membership at the World of Concrete Trade show.
